Cathexis ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Cathexis is designed with privacy at its core. We do NOT collect:
- Your name or contact information
- Your location data
- Your check-in data or body sensations
- Your session history or patterns
- Your journal entries or reflections
- Your safety plan information
- Your prediction tracking data
- Your LINK pattern detection results
- Your program progress
- Any usage analytics or tracking data
Information Stored On Your Device
All data you create in Cathexis is stored locally on your device only:
- Check-in history — Your body awareness check-ins and sensation data
- Prediction tracking — Your expected vs. actual experience data
- Session records — Which interventions you've completed
- Program progress — Your progress through 30-day programs
- LINK patterns — Pattern detection results (processed on-device)
- Journal entries — Your reflections and free-writing
- Resolution tracking — Your progress on original concerns
- Preferences — Your settings, notification preferences, and profile information
- Safety plan — Your personal safety plan (if created)
- Treatment team contacts — Your saved care contacts (if added)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it (such as generating a therapist report).
LINK Pattern Detection
The LINK feature analyzes your check-in data to surface patterns. This processing:
- Happens entirely on your device
- Does not use artificial intelligence or machine learning
- Uses straightforward pattern recognition (no black box)
- Never transmits your data anywhere
- Cannot be accessed by Cathexis or any third party
Motion & Activity Data
Cathexis may request access to motion and activity data (such as step count and activity type) to provide smart notifications. For example, the app can detect patterns like restlessness or extended stillness to send contextually relevant reminders. This data is:
- Processed entirely on your device
- Never transmitted to any server
- Never stored permanently
- Never shared with any third party
- Used only to provide timely, helpful notifications
You can disable smart notifications in Settings at any time.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Apple's notification system to send you reminders and insights. We do not have access to any information about when or whether you open these notifications.
Third-Party Services
Cathexis does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
The only third-party service used is:
- Apple's App Store — For processing subscriptions and payments. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
Subscriptions & Payments
Payments are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID.
Data Export
You may export your progress data (for sharing with a therapist, for example). When you do this:
- The export is generated on your device
- You control where it is shared
- We have no access to exported data
Children's Privacy
Cathexis is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app contains mental health content that may not be appropriate for young children.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- To delete your data: Delete the app from your device
- To reset your data: Use the "Reset All Data" option in Settings or delete and reinstall the app
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Your Rights
